The couple met 5 years ago at Hesre’s sister’s wedding. Herman was the groom’s best man and Hesre was bridesmaid. So now two best friends married two sisters.

Décor was vintage. Lots of hearts against the walls with photos of us. Lots of curtain fairylighs. Chandeliers. Décor was white and cream and gold.

DIY projects- We made salt and pepper holders as presents for the men. We had a vintage bird cage where the guests can put in wedding advice for us. We also made heart and wooden words as table names.

The dress: Elegant off-white with luxurious lace

The Bouquets were off-white roses with lots of gypsophila.

Did anything unexpected happen on your wedding day? When we drove from the church to the reception, we decided to go around the block just to take a breath. When we got to the top of a hill the car died. Herman and the driver who was my cousin pulled up their sleeves and fixed the car on the spot.

How did he propose? He put up big posters on all the street poles in Kuilsriver. Then we drove to Franschoek where all the street poles were covered with poster of how much he loves me etc. He booked a suite in a guest house in Franschoek. We had two waiters serving us in our beautiful room. When desert came he went on his knees and proposed.

How did the wedding reflect your personality as a couple?: The wedding décor and everything else about our wedding was simple and plain, just like us.

Your favourite moment of the wedding: My favourite moment was when we were told that we are now husband and wife. The favourite moment for Herman was our wedding dance.
